MONCTON, NB - A holiday weekend and an impending hurricane are expected to make for a busy day at the grocery store.
Employees at a Sobeys in Moncton say they have a busy day ahead of them keeping shelves stocked with bottled water, batteries and other essentials.
Whether it was the threat of Earl or the sizzling hot temperatures, bottled water was flying off store shelves yesterday.
The hurricane is very top of mind for those who experienced Hurricane Juan back in 2003.
Darrell Crossman lived in Truro when Juan hit and says they were without power for days.
He says he will buy extra water and batteries and make sure his car's gas tank is topped up.
Crossman says people need to keep in mind that gas pumps and ATM machines don't work when the power goes out.
Nicolas LeBlanc of Dieppe is packing his family up today and going to Fredericton for the weekend.
"We lived in Halifax when Hurricane Juan hit.... I've seen the other side of it. Maybe I'm being overly cautious this time, but with kids... we're not taking a chance." says LeBlanc.
