As millions struggle to cope with the impact of rising floodwaters in Pakistan, about 100 Nova Scotians and a few tourists are enduring their own flood drama.
Two bridges on the only road to the northern Cape Breton village of Meat Cove were washed away by heavy rains over the weekend.
RCMP, the military, the Emergency Measures Organization and the Department of Transportation all have people in the area working on the problem.
A structural engineer with the Department of Transportation will be in the area today to assess the damage to the bridges. If it's determined repairs will take too long, the whole community could be evacuated.
For now, supplies are being ferried in and out by boat and the military has aircraft on standby in case of a medical emergency.
