Community rallies around food bank after break and enter

Cathy LeBreton - News Staff Jul 30, 2010 10:56:16 AM
PETITCODIAC, N.B. - A theft from a food bank in southeastern New Brunswick has prompted an outpouring of support and donations from the public.

Someone forced their way into The Spot food bank in Petitcodiac early Thursday and made off with $2,000 worth of goods.

The RCMP are investigating.

Food bank spokeswoman Vicky Crossman says she can't understand why someone would do such a thing -- especially to an organization that exists to help those in need.

But Crossman says she's been flooded with calls of support and food donations since word of the break-in got out.

The Spot serves roughly 100 families in the Petitcodiac and Salisbury areas.
