MONCTON, N.B. - The regions's first winter storm of the new year is leaving a mess in its wake.
By 5:30pm, there was about 2 inches of snow on the ground, and freezing rain had started to fall.
The temperature is expected to rise overnight, turning the snow and freezing rain into rain, and turning the snow into a big slushy mess.
Moncton Director of Public Works Don Morehouse says crews are out in full force and keeping an upper hand on the storm.
He says crews will be working to keep the roads clear throughout the evening and overnight.
He says crews likely won't get to the sidewalks until sometime on Saturday.
