MONCTON, N.B. - The federal government is committing $1.6-million over four years to improve support programs to victims of crime in New Brunswick.
The announcement was made in Moncton this afternoon by local MP Robert Goguen and New Brunswick Attorney General Marie-Claude Blais.
She says the province is proud to be supporting the initiative, as it will enhance the services already here.
One of the programs that will be developed will offer support for male survivors of sexual abuse who find themselves before the courts.
There will also be support services for aboriginal victims, and parents of sexually abused children.
The money was made available from the federal department of justice.
