District 2 rolls out school vaccinations today
MONCTON, NB - Officials are asking the general public to be patient as they work to make sure those most at risk from the H1N1 virus are vaccinated. School District 2 will begin vaccinating school children today. There is a shortage of vaccine so in order to make sure there's enough for school children, the evening clinics, which were supposed to be open to the general public, have been cancelled. For a complete list of clinics, log onto www.gnb.ca. Five schools in the St. George area were closed last week due to a swine flu outbreak and Valerie Kilfoil of the Department of Education hopes they will be back open by Wednesday. Kilfoil says they will begin monitoring absentee rates across the province this week and she isn't ruling out more closures. Fans who showed up for yesterday's Moncton Wildcats game were told the game was cancelled after a number of players had come down with fever. There's no way of knowing how many New Brunswickers might have contracted the virus so far, as the only cases being tracked are those who land in hospital. As of Friday, there had been five people in hospital and there have been no deaths. |
