Priority groups for H1N1 vaccine revised
FREDERICTON, N.B. - The province's chief medical officer of health says the criteria for priority groups has been revised, and those not in one of groups will have to wait for their shots. Dr. Eilish Cleary says five H1N1 vaccination clinics in southeast New Brunswick were cancelled today because there wouldn't have been enough vaccine for the priority groups, otherwise. The priority groups are now children between the ages of 6 months and 5 years, school-aged children, women pregnant over 20 weeks, women with a chronic disease under 20 weeks pregnant, and health care workers who deal directly with patients. Lineups at clinics this week in Moncton meant people waited for hours to get their vaccination. Meanwhile, five schools in southwest New Brunswick were closed today because of a staff shortage. An official with the province's education department says it's likely at least some of those who are sick have H1N1. |
