MONCTON, NB - The Transportation Safety Board is investigating an early morning mishap involving a cargo jet at the Greater Moncton International Airport.
Emergency crews were called out around 3:15 this morning when a Boeing 727 cargo jet skidded off the wet tarmac.
There were 3 crew members on board the plane at the time and none of them required medical assistance.
The plane -- owned by Missisauga-based CargoJet was arriving from Hamilton, Ontario when the incident occurred..
A company spokesperson says the most important thing to them is that the crew is safe, but added the plane looks to be in good shape.
A formal investigation will be carried out by the Transportation Safety Board of Canada, but Dieppe Fire Chief Charles LeBlanc says it was raining heavily at the time of the incident and it appears the plane hydroplaned.
The plane could be seen this morning resting on a muddy, grassy area at the end of Runway 0-6.
Airport staff say 0-6 is the shorter of the airport's two runways, measuring 6,150 feet.
Airport operations were not affected by the incident.
