FREDERICTON – Liberal Finance Critic Donald Arsenault says he’s concerned about where the Alward government is trying to find savings.

He says deep cuts should not be encouraged at Business New Brunswick, the province’s economic development agency.

Finance Minister Blaine Higgs released a fiscal update yesterday with a projected deficit that’s nearly 75-million dollars less for this fiscal year than previously estimated.

He says reduced government spending has been key.

The biggest decrease among departments is a 23 per cent reduction by Business New Brunswick.

Higgs says the agency is being more selective in what it funds.

Eight departments are still over their original budgets.

General government spending is up, and so is spending by the Health Department
