MONCTON, NB – The driver of highway plow truck managed to safely escape the vehicle after it caught fire early yesterday morning in Moncton.

The Department of Transportation and Infrastructure say the truck was in service at the time on the westbound off-ramp of Route 2 near Mountain Road.

The fire destroyed the cab and front end of the truck and the cause is still under investigation.

A portion of the vehicle is salvageable but department officials say the truck will have to be replaced at an average cost of $100,000.
