There could be changes coming to the number of RCMP detachments across the province.
There are currently 56 detachments, but the Commander of the RCMP in New Brunswick Wayne Lang stated that he didn’t know if New Brunswickers can support the infrastructure for that many.
According to the Times and Transcript, he admitted the force is looking at eliminating some of those policing posts.
As many as 15 could be cut.
Lang says jobs won’t be affected, and the reduction won’t impact the services they provide.
This comes just months after a decision by the RCMP to reduce the number of Districts from eleven to three.
