MONCTON, N.B. -  If you smell something unpleasant in the Victoria Park area of Moncton, your nose isn’t playing tricks.

Officials with the city say the grass under the park’s skating rink is decomposing, which produces an unpleasant odour.

Unfortunately, Parks and Grounds supervisor Dan Hicks says there’s nothing they can do until the ice thaws.

Hicks says the odour isn’t harmful and you can continue to use the ice surface for skating.

City crews will continue to monitor the situation and they thank residents for their patience.
