MONCTON, N.B. – A new dump site is being developed in Moncton to increase the amount of room to deal with the city’s unwanted snow.
The new site is being built on land the city already owns off Berry Mills road near the landfill site at a cost of $750,000.
Public works director Don Morehouse says they just don’t have the capacity right now to store the large piles of snow that accumulate over the winter.
The snow dump will be used by municipal snow clearers, but Morehouse says they also plan to open it up to private contractors for a fee.
Construction is expected to start this year, with the facility ready to use by next winter.
The site will by used for outdoor storage in the summer months.
