RIVERVIEW, NB – Internet child exploitation is a persistent problem that exists in all communities including the Greater Moncton area.

That’s according to members of the Codiac RCMP Internet Child Exploitation Unit who made a presentation to the Codiac Regional Policing Authority on Wednesday.

Constable Tonia Williams says 32 charges for child porn or internet luring were laid in the region last year alone.

She says it’s important for parents to take an active role to prevent their child from becoming a victim.

“Be aware of what your children are doing online, where they are going online and who they are connected to online.”

Williams suggests you call RCMP or visit cybertip.ca if you need to report an internet child exploitation crime.
