MONCTON, NB – A man was taken to hospital this afternoon following a snowmobile crash.
Several fire crews including the Moncton Fire Department responded to a call shortly after 1pm on a trail about 20 km north of Moncton.
Moncton Deputy Fire Chief Don McCabe says the man suffered a number of injuries.
“They allegedly hit a bump and the man came off the snowmobile and hit a tree. The extent of the injuries is unclear but we know he has injuries to his head, he was complaining of a sore chest and he may have had a cracked rib or two,” notes McCabe.
McCabe says it was challenging because crews had to use an off-road vehicle to bring the man out of the woods where he was taken by ambulance to the Moncton Hospital.
A woman was on the snowmobile with him but she wasn’t hurt.
The couple are believed to be from Nova Scotia.
