MONCTON, NB – A powerful Nor’easter is impacting Southern New Brunswick today.
A blizzard warning is in effect for Greater Moncton with heavy snow and gusty northeasterly winds creating blowing and drifting snow.
Our meteorologist Richard Zurawski says whiteouts will be a big factor today.
“The wind is going to be gusting up to 90 km/h perhaps even 100 km/h. Total snowfall amounts are significant. We could see 30 cm of snow with perhaps more in some areas.”
In a statement, the City of Moncton encourages residents to stay home and only travel if it is absolutely necessary.
Snow clearing and street/sidewalk salting operations are underway.
Residents are reminded of the winter overnight parking ban in place for all of the tri-communities which is in place to assist in snow clearing operations.
