RIVERVIEW, N.B. – The provincial government has invested a total of $52,000 in after-school programs across New Brunswick including $15,000 in the Greater Moncton area.

Healthy and Inclusive Communities minister Dorothy Shephard made the announcement at the Riverview Boys and Girls Club this afternoon.

Shephard says after-school programming is an important part of keeping children active and out of trouble.

“You know our children need safe and stimulating places to spend their time and that’s what programs like here at the Boys and Girls Club bring to the children so that they’re kept active and they’re kept engaged with their peers.”

The Riverview Boys and Girls Club plans to spend their thousand dollars in grant money on their drop-in program for middle school kids.
