MONCTON, NB – The second major winter storm of the season has dumped about 30 cm of snow on Greater Moncton along with freezing rain and rain.
Our meteorologist Richard Zurawski says the storm brought what was predicted and in some cases a bit more.
“Across southern New Brunswick we got 15 to 30 cm of snow… the high points were Fredericton and Moncton in terms of total snowfall amounts. There was some rain, freezing rain and ice pellets mixed with it and temperatures are hovering right around the freezing mark.”
Moncton public works foreman Kevin Allen says crews were called in yesterday afternoon to start clean up efforts.
‘We have the clean up crew all completed now. The majority of streets have had their second and third passes, so they are quite good. We have the salt out there and a fair amount of the roads are actually bare right now.”
The weather is causing some flight delays and cancellations at the Greater Moncton International Airport.
