A snowstorm that wreaked havoc on one of the busiest travel days of the holiday season in Ontario on Boxing Day is slowly moving into Quebec and the Maritimes this afternoon.

Winter storm warnings are in effect for all of New Brunswick including Greater Moncton and Saint John with anywhere from 15-30 cm. of snow expected and strong gusty winds creating whiteout conditions.

“The next 12 to 24 hours are going to be dicey,” says meteorologist Richard Zurawski. “If you have to travel, I would think twice about it especially in the Moncton and Saint John regions and the Cobequid Pass towards Halifax.”

For anyone catching a flight to or from Ontario, you may want to pack your patience.

Both Pearson Airport in Toronto and Montreal’s Trudeau Airport have cancelled scores of flights and travellers are urged to check schedules before leaving home.
