MONCTON, NB – The mayor of Moncton believes progress was made this year in the road to build a downtown events centre on the city’s preferred site at Highfield Square.
In a year-end interview with McLean in the Morning, George LeBlanc says the project suffered a major setback last year when it was denied funding from P3 Canada.
“But I guess like all challenges, you have to accept it, you have to prevail and you have to move forward as best you can. On this front, we are making some positive steps and good progress from my standpoint.”
LeBlanc says the biggest challenge facing city hall this year was likely the Codiac Transpo lockout.
He adds reaching an agreement for both sides took a lot longer than he had hoped.
In 2013, LeBlanc anticipates more great concerts for Magnetic Hill and he wants to see the CFL return to the Hub City.
