BIG RIVER, NB–A family of five have been left homeless after a fire in the Bathurst area.

The blaze broke out in a home in Big River yesterday morning, forcing a man and woman and their three children out of the residence.

The Canadian Red Cross says the children range in age from 10 to 15 years old. The family is now staying with relatives.

Fire officials says it appears the fire started in a clothes dryer, and it caused extensive damage to the home.
