SAINT JOHN, NB – The hustle and bustle of the holiday season is everywhere this time of year including on the highways and in the air.

Gary Howard with CAA says millions will be travelling to get to their destinations this Christmas.

Howard says an increasing number of families are choosing non-traditional holiday getaways.

“Places like Disney World in Florida, some resorts in the Caribbean and so on,  even cruises.  People are saying we can celebrate Christmas anywhere, so we might as well do it in a place that is sunny and warm.”

Howard cautions air travellers to leave their gifts unwrapped when they go through security.

If travelling by car, he suggests ensuring your vehicle is mechanically ready for the road, have an emergency kit handy and to give yourself lots of time to arrive at your destination.
