MONCTON, NB – The survey says… more than 60 percent of respondents are in favour of on-street parking in downtown Moncton.
Downtown Moncton Centre-ville Inc. Executive Director Anne Poirier-Basque believes the pilot project has already stimulated economic development.
“For the downtown parking in general, we’re very happy with this. It’s a pilot project… it’s ongoing… but so far it’s bringing in good news.”
Poirier-Basque adds some respondents did have safety concerns about on-street parking such as traffic being slowed down and a lack of turning lanes.
More than 100 on-street parking spots were added along Main and Queen Streets this summer.

Since the inception of downtown parking, I have frequented at least four Main Street businesses that I have not been to for years because I was able to park near them.
