FREDERICTON, N.B. – The lack of money for new road projects in the provincial capital budget is causing a stir in the legislature.

The Official Opposition is upset that money hasn’t been budgeted for Highway 11 between Shediac and Miramichi.

But Claude Williams, minister of transportation, says the project is part of a cost-sharing project with the federal government, and the money budgeted for it is gone.

He says the province is currently trying to secure another agreement with Ottawa for funding so work can begin.

The project was originally announced by the Shawn Graham government.
