FREDERICTON, N.B. – David Alward has provincial crime prevention on his radar.

Yesterday, the New Brunswick government has launched a crime prevention and reduction strategy.

The Premier says a roundtable of police and community groups will suggest different programs and study what works best. “The goal of this is to identify how we can do things more efficiently within part of the system so it can be reinvested in to prevention in the long term.”

The strategy will focus on youth at risk, chronic repeat offenders and domestic violence.

Acting Fredericton Police Chief Leanne Fitch says she believes the approach will lead to a more coordinated approach across the province that can reduce crime.
