MONCTON, NB – The vice-president of Transport Action Atlantic is convinced that VIA Rail simply doesn’t care about service in the Maritimes anymore.

Ted Bartlett says a region like northern New Brunswick has been left out in the cold because there are no other transportation options available.

“They are just not meeting the demand and they don’t care to meet the demand.  In recent days, they have just announced an increase in service between Quebec City and Ottawa for example.  That is the area they are concentrating on and they don’t care about people down here.”

Bartlett adds the loss of capacity, the loss of frequency and shortened train lengths during the holiday season have made VIA Rail a national disgrace.
