FREDERICTON, N.B.- New Brunswick Premier David Alward is optimistic as more politicians and business leaders throw their support behind an oil pipeline that would bring Alberta oil to Saint John.
Alward says a motion is being drafted asking for support in the legislature for the idea.
Green Party Leader David Coon, whose party does not have a seat in the legislature, calls the concept an idea from the 1950′s.
“This crazy proposal to ship bitumen through Saint John to India is just going to throw fuel on the fire of the climate crisis because it will help propel expansion of the tar sands”.
The president of Irving Oil believes the refinery is ready to handle crude oil shipped to the east through a pipeline.
