FREDERICTON, N.B. – The province’s health minister is confident that his government will create a prescription drug and catastrophic drug plan which all New Brunswickers can be proud of.

That being said Ted Flemming tells McLean in the Morning that he won’t rush the creation of the plan.

He notes if you’re on social assistance or are a senior of a certain income in this province, you already have drug coverage, but there’s a gap of uninsured New Brunswickers that need to be taken care of.  “This government is concerned and this minister is concerned not only with the poor folk that need catastrophic drugs but with the 70,000 families in New Brunswick that have no coverage whatsoever. It’s not right!”

Flemming adds whatever plan the government develops will have to be sustainable.

A catastrophic drug plan would help alleviate the costs for those with cancer, diabetes or multiple sclerosis.
