SAINT JOHN, N.B.- An initiative is underway in Saint John aimed at making the Port City the kindest city in Canada.

Pay It Forward is based on a movie and novel involving a young boy.

Local organizer Michael Whelton says it’s an uncomplicated idea based on simple acts of kindness.”Rather than people thanking someone for a positive act, it’s about repaying that to someone else with the idea that down the road that that Pay It Forward may come back to you at a time when you need it”.

Whelton says the program is based on bracelets and he hopes to produce 100,000 of them through donations from the private sector.

The initiative is active through social media and the website payitforwardsj.org
