MONCTON, NB – Family members of Sabrina Patterson say they can finally move on with their lives after a two-year ordeal that ended in the conviction of her killer.
In Moncton court yesterday, 33-year-old Fred Prosser was sentenced to 25 years in prison with no chance of parole for the murder of 25-year-old Patterson, his ex-girlfriend.
Sabrina’s sister Denise Murphy says the family wants to ensure her memory is kept alive.
“Obviously we’re never going to forget what happened. We’re going to do everything we can to ensure this doesn’t happen to anyone else. We’re still going to be having our marathons in memory of Sabrina, we’re still going to be doing everything we’ve done all along to ensure that she’s not forgotten.”
The jury spent 10 hours deliberating Monday and Tuesday before reaching a guilty verdict on all three charges including first degree murder.
Sabrina Patterson’s body was found in a wooded area near Shenstone in November 2010 after she had been reported missing a week earlier.
