FREDERICTON, N.B.  – RCMP have identified human remains found last Saturday near Fredericton as those of a
56-year-old woman from Saint John.

Hikers discovered the human remains along with personal items in a tent in the woods near the Penniac Bridge.

The RCMP used dental and medical records to identify the woman as Susan Lynn Burnside.

Police say she had lost touch with her family and was considered to be a transient with no fixed address.

She was never reported missing to police.

Police say there are no obvious signs of foul play, but the cause of death and how long the human remains were in the tent are still unknown.
