MONCTON, N.B. – A house fire in Moncton’s outskirts has left one person temporarily homeless.

Moncton Fire Department Platoon Chief Brian Gaudet says the fire broke out at about 3:15am this morning at a residence on Zack Road.

He says there was heavy smoke coming from the attic area, but they managed to contain the fire to one section of the building.

One person managed to escape unharmed.

The cause is not yet known.

Gaudet says the investigation into the cause is being turned over to the provincial fire marshall office because the fire was outside city limits.
