MONCTON, N.B. - Codiac Transpo bus service could resume in Greater Moncton in a matter of weeks.
It took three days of negotiations, but the city and the union representing Transpo workers managed to hammer out an agreement.
Union head George Turple says about 75 bus drivers and other employees will be voting on the deal on Friday.
Riders have been forced to find alternative modes of transportation for five months.
Greater Moncton Transit Citizen Action group Lucien Sivret says it may take some time before the buses are full again.
“I have a feeling that a lot of people have found other means of transportation, and usually they don’t go back to using the buses, at least for a few months.”
Details of the agreement will not be released until it has been ratified.
