Services for Acadian Bus Lines will come to an end in Atlantic Canada on Friday, but riders will see a replacement the very next day.

Maritime Bus, out of Prince Edward Island, will begin offering bus service to Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and PEI, beginning on December 1st.

Owner Mike Cassidy says they are going to offer even more runs than riders had before.

“Five buses leaving Moncton going to Halifax daily.  Five buses leaving Halifax coming to Moncton.  We’ve never had an early bus out of Moncton at 7 o’clock in the morning going to Halifax.  December 1st, we will.  Moncton has never had a noon hour going to Halifax.  It never had a supper hour bus going to Halifax, we will.”

He says they hope to have a website up and running by Monday night or Tuesday morning.  “The website should be live with all of our routes, all of our frequencies, and then our customers can at least get on a website.  They can book online, they can price online, and they can see availability of seats online.”

Acadian Bus Lines announced earlier this year that it was stopping its runs in Atlantic Canada because it was losing money.
