MONCTON, NB–Talks are continuing today in the five-month-old lockout of municipal transit workers in Moncton.
Negotiations resumed between the two sides last night.
City Spokesman Paul Thomson says the union’s indication earlier this week it would accept a wage increase of about 2.75 per cent annually for the next five years, “is a positive step” and has led
both sides to resume negotiations.
The Amalgamated Transit Union had rejected that offer when the city made it in April.
Thomson says the two sides are the closest they’ve been to a resolution since the lockout started on June 27.
