MONCTON, N.B. -  Greater Moncton’s Christmas season officially begins Saturday evening with the Majesta Santa Claus parade.

The parade gets underway at 6pm, and will run its usual route on Main Street and Champlain Street between Cameron Street and Paul Street.

Organizing committee president Gerry LeBlanc says there will be 115 floats this year.

Parade-goers are reminded not to park in the new spaces on Main Street on Saturday.

LeBlanc says vehicles that do park on Main Street will be towed.

Vaughan Harvey Boulevard will be closed between Millennium Boulevard and Assomption Boulevard starting at 1pm until the parade ends.

Canada Post employees will walk the parade route collecting kid’s letters to Santa, and Tim Horton’s employees will collect non-perishable food items for area food banks.
