MONCTON, N.B. -  The first-degree murder trial of Fred Prosser continued today with testimony from more Crown witnesses.

The 33 year-old Albert County man is also charged with sexual assault and sexual assault causing bodily harm in the 2010 death of Sabrina Patterson, who was his ex-girlfriend and with whom he had two young children.

Three employees who worked with Prosser at the Riverview Canadian Tire testified today that he seemed upset and was crying on October 30, 2010.

One of the employees was a manager who sent Prosser home early because he seemed so distressed, and said Prosser never reported to work again.

Constable Paul Martin, a criminal intelligence officer with Codiac RCMP, testified he was sent to the Prosser family home in Shenstone on November 4 when Prosser had been reported missing.

Martin told court that Prosser’s father indicated that Fred Prosser was in the basement of the home at the time.

Mr. Prosser brought his son upstairs where he was apprehended by Martin and his partner and taken to police headquarters.

The trial is expected to last at least three weeks.
