MONCTON, N.B. -  Premier David Alward says anytime you bring provincial leaders together it creates an opportunity.

Alward is heading to Halifax for a premier’s meeting.

Speaking in Moncton on Thursday, Alward said he wants to talk more about a pipeline bringing oil from the west to Saint John.

“I’m looking forward to speaking again with the premier of Alberta as an example on the importance of that, and having a national focus for energy in our country.”

Alward says the economy will be the focus of the premier’s meeting with Bank of Canada Governor Mark Carney, who is scheduled to be a speaker at the event.

One politician who will not be attending is Prime Minister Stephen Harper.

Harper’s office has said he meets regularly with the provincial leaders and the economy remains his top concern.
