MONCTON, NB – A North End Moncton committee feels the neighbourhood has sprawl but no soul which is why it wants to have its own recreational centre.
Jeff Reath chairs the committee and pitched the concept to city council last night.
Reath envisions the $11 million, 40,000 square foot centre would be built next to Evergreen Park School and contain various elements such as a fitness centre, skate park, climbing wall, walking track and multifunction rooms.
Reath notes that other neighbourhoods in Moncton already have their own identities and community centres.
In addition to partnering with the City, Reath also wants to partner with user groups who would help in fundraising.
