MONCTON, NB – The City of Moncton is understandably disappointed it won’t be holding the Uteck Bowl again.
Atlantic University Sport has pulled the plug on the Eastern Football Championship at Moncton Stadium in 2013 and 2015.
Manager of venues Shane Porter says the city still has a good relationship with A.U.S. and remains optimistic about working with the group in the future.
“Well obviously we love to host these types of events… and we’re constantly saying we’re open for business. So it’s unfortunate,” says Porter.
Last year’s Uteck Bowl at Moncton Stadium only attracted about 3,500 fans.
Some say TSN’s decision to broadcast the game on Friday night rather than the traditional Saturday afternoon may have prevented many fans from attending.
