MONCTON, NB–Moncton firefighters are not only fighting fires, they’re fighting for literacy as well..
For the third year in a row, they’ve chosen a school in the Greater Moncton region, and will be reading to children in Kindergarten to Grade 4.
This year, they’ll be inspiring students at Queen Elizabeth School. In the past, they have visited Edith Cavell and Beaverbrook Schools.
Every Wednesday for the next four weeks, they’ll take the time to read with a class. From there, children are encouraged to track the number of minutes they spend reading.
The goal of the program is to promote the importance and joy of reading.
