MIRAMICHI, NB – A Burnt Church man accused of murdering his 16-year-old cousin is expected to take the stand in his own defense today.

Curtis Bonnell is charged with first degree murder in the death of Hillary Bonnell, whose body was found buried in a wooded area near Tabusintac in November 2009.

She had been missing for two months at the time.

The crown closed its case against Bonnell last week after calling more than 30 witnesses.

Eight weeks have been set aside for the judge and jury trial.

The proceedings enter week seven tomorrow.
