HOPEWELL CAPE, N.B. – Two women from China were rescued after becoming stranded by the incoming tide at the Hopewell Rocks this afternoon.
Officials say they received an emergency call from the Rocks at about 2pm.
Hillsborough, Riverview and Moncton Fire Departments all responded.
The crew from Riverview was able to rescue the women, a mother and daughter, with their boat.
Moncton’s new hovercraft and helicopter from CFB Greenwood in Nova Scotia were on scene, but were not needed.
The mother is in New Brunswick visiting her daughter, who is a student in Fredericton.
Both are reported in good condition, although shaken up.
High tide at the Rocks can reach as high as 16 metres.
