MONCTON, NB – The need for transportation options in Southeastern New Brunswick has never been greater with cutbacks to VIA Rail, the demise of Acadian Lines and the current Codiac Transpo dispute.
That’s where a regional initiative called “Go Transpo” comes into play.
Project coordinator Meggie MacMichael says the first stage is putting together a feasibility study.
“This study will outline transportation needs in the community and how to meet those needs efficiently and in a way that is economically, socially and environmentally sustainable,” MacMichael notes.
MacMichael says public input is being sought and surveys are available at most municipal offices and more information is on a Facebook page called “Go Transpo: Connecting Southeastern NB”.
Once completed early next year, the study will be used as the basis for a strategic action plan.
