MONCTON, NB – Frustration over the Codiac Transpo lockout reached the boiling point last night and RCMP had to escort two individuals out of Moncton City Council chambers.
“I’m going to let you know every time you make a comment from this council chair, either one of you, that is not factual, I’m going to come here and challenge you on it,” noted George Turple.
Local transit union president George Turple was the first to be led out by two RCMP officers after expressing anger over recent misleading statements made by some city councillors.
Turple kept speaking even though his allotted time ran out and his microphone was turned off.
Robert Melanson, one of several citizens who made presentations about the lockout, was also escorted out when his time ran out and he kept interrupting council.
Mayor George LeBlanc spoke afterwards.
“I have to say and express how deeply disappointed I am with the spectacle that we had here at council,” noted LeBlanc.
LeBlanc says he and council remain committed to resolving the lengthy labour dispute.
