MONCTON, NB – New Brunswick’s first private MRI clinic is preparing to open in Moncton.
If you have the money, the patient cost for an MRI starts at about $900.
Clinic Spokesperson Wayne Powers says patients need a referral from their doctor or specialist but will be able to get an appointment within a few days.
“Once the appointment is done, usually we can have the results to the patient or to the physicians within 48 hours.”
The clinic features the first “3T” MRI in Atlantic Canada which comes at a price tag of about $3 million.
Powers says the demand is there.
“Already a lot of people are leaving the province to get these scans done either in Boston, New York, Montreal or Toronto. So the fact that people are willing to pay the extra cost to go out of province to get it done, to have it locally. We’re meeting the demand is what we’re doing.”
The clinic is expected to open November 1.
