A potential strike by Airport Security Screeners could disrupt flights out of airports in Atlantic Canada in the coming months.

Members of the United Steelworkers Union have voted in favour of walking off the job on November 1st, if a deal can’t be reached with Securitas, the company who employs them.

A collective agreement for the roughly 800 union members expires at the end of October.

Airport security screening is a mandatory process for all passengers before boarding planes.  The workers aren’t employed directly by each individual airport, but there could still end up being delays, if contingency plans aren’t put into place.
