FREDERICTON, N.B.- Don’t look for an ex-conservative MLA to join the Official Opposition.
Thursday’s ejection of Fundy-River Valley MLA Jim Parrott show signs of trouble within Premier David Alward’s conservative caucus, according to the interim leader of the Official Opposition.
Victor Boudreau says while he will not be welcoming Parrott into the Liberal fold,it’s unfortunate that the retired heart surgeon had to go to such extremes to be heard by his party. “Dr. Parrott can’t even get heard within his own government. It was clear by the remarks he made earlier this week that no one on the government side was prepared to listen to him.”, says Boudreau
Alward says the ejection wasn’t because the issues Parrott addressed in a recent newspaper editorial. “This is about a breaking of trust, of confidentiality, within this caucus and that’s why we made the very difficult decision. “
Parrott tells the Telegraph Journal he’s still very passionate about creating changes and that he has no plans to go away.
He will sit as an independent in the Fredericton legislature.
