MONCTON, NB – They say no news is good news….
The two sides the long-standing Codiac Transpo dispute remain at the negotiating table.
It’s a hopeful sign as it’s the longest the two sides have met in many months.
Speaking on McLean in the morning, Mayor George LeBlanc politely side-stepped questions about how things are going…
“We’ve agreed that we’re not going to discuss this in the media while talks are ongoing. I can only say that my hope is that things will turn out well.” says LeBlanc.
Codiac’s bus drivers, mechanics and service workers have been locked out since June 27th.
The dispute involves wages with the drivers seeking increases of 23 per cent over five years while th city had been offering just under 14.
Prior to the resumption of negotiations on Tuesday, the city had offered to look at extending the terms of the contract from 5 to 7 years.
