MIRAMICHI, NB–Police say human remains recently found in a New Brunswick park were that of a woman reported missing more than eight years ago.

RCMP say Gladys Simon of Elsipogtog  was a patient at the nearby Restigouche Hospital when she was reported missing on June 24th, 2004.

The Mounties say they believe Simon wandered into the woods and may have become disoriented.

Her remains were found last week by a person looking for fossils at New Dam Lake in Sugarloaf Park, south of Campbellton.
